Restoring Comfort to Leather & Fabric Sofas Across Shropshire

If your sofa has started to feel flat, saggy or uncomfortable, it doesn’t automatically mean it needs replacing. In many cases, the frame and upholstery are still perfectly sound. It’s the cushioning inside that has simply softened over time.

At Shropshire Leather Care, we restore the comfort and support in both leather and fabric sofas across Telford, Shrewsbury and the wider Shropshire area — often without the cost or upheaval of buying new furniture.

Seat cushions gradually lose density. Foam compresses. Webbing underneath can stretch. You might notice yourself sinking into one corner or constantly plumping cushions back into shape. Before replacing a perfectly good sofa, it’s worth knowing that this is usually fixable.

How We Restore Support & Comfort

Every sofa is built slightly differently, so the approach depends on whether the seat cushions are removable or fully fixed to the frame.

If your cushions can be removed, we take out the old foam and replace it with new, high-density foam cut to size. This restores the shape, firmness and support properly, rather than simply “topping up” what’s already there. The right density makes a noticeable difference to how the sofa feels day to day.

For fixed-seat sofas, the work is carried out from underneath. The sofa is carefully turned, additional support foam can be introduced beneath the seating area, and any stretched webbing straps can be replaced to lift and strengthen the base. This reinforces the structure and helps eliminate that sinking feeling in the middle.

We don’t replace internal spring units, and we’re not able to repad reclining sofas because of their mechanisms and construction. But for standard fixed or removable cushion sofas — in both leather and fabric — repadding can significantly improve comfort and extend the life of the furniture.
