Leather is a luxurious choice for car interiors, but over time it’s prone to wear and can start to look tired or grubby. Unlike fabric, leather shows damage more clearly. Daily use, UV light, incorrect cleaning products and general wear all take their toll. Driver’s seat bolsters, side panels and steering wheels in particular take constant punishment. If your car’s leather interior is starting to crack, fade or wear through — or you’ve recently bought a second-hand vehicle with damage — we can help. At Shropshire Leather Care, we repair worn bolsters, cracked panels, colour loss and light splits using professional repair and colour-matching techniques.

We also undertake classic car leather restorations, and if you’re considering a colour refresh or something a little different, that’s absolutely possible too. We are fully trained, fully insured and can collect items and complete the work in our workshop before returning them to you.

Before starting any repair, we always carry out a full pre-inspection. This allows us to assess the condition properly and explain what can realistically be achieved. I’d always rather be honest from the outset than promise something that won’t last. Have a read below to see what we can do.

Problems we regularly repair include:

• Colour fade and worn areas – Often caused by everyday use, especially on the driver’s seat bolster. Over time, protective topcoats and pigments wear away. We carefully restore the colour and blend the repair back to match the surrounding leather.
• Small Rips, tears and small cuts – From minor splits to small accidental damage, we can usually repair and reinforce the affected area before colour-matching it back into the original finish.
• Cracking and surface wear – High-contact areas such as seat edges and side panels can dry and crack. We refill and stabilise the damaged leather before refinishing it to improve both appearance and durability.
• Burn marks – Small cigarette burns or heat damage can often be repaired and blended so the repair becomes far less noticeable.

Please Note

Some vehicle manufacturers use imitation leather or vinyl rather than genuine leather. Over time this material can crack, peel or split differently to natural leather. If the underside of the material appears smooth and man-made (where genuine leather would look fibrous), it is likely vinyl. Unfortunately, we are unable to carry out permanent repairs on this type of material.
