Whats leather restoration?
Leather restoration has always been a bit of a unknown quantity for customers. Many don’t really know whats potentially possible. Leather furniture is always going to be an expensive purchase and once it becomes tired or you change your mind on that wallpaper, suddenly your expensive leather sofa no longer fits your decor.
Generally we come across 2 types of leather, pigmented and aniline. Aniline is the top grain of the leather and the way its dyed means your limited to certain colours to choose. With pigmented leather however, at the tannery leathers are sprayed with literally what ever colour the client requires, hence the amazing array of colours available in shops today.
Knowing this, its possible especially on pigmented leather to refinish them again to a new colour of your choice. We can also fix cuts, scratches, small holes and burst seams. Here’s an example below of a restoration project for a customer:
What we can do
The customer owned a lazy boy recliner chair in cream, which was his favourite chair. Over time it had become worn and faded and their were cat scratches and a large hole in it. The customer wished for a new colour to match their new fabric sofa. After a colour had been chosen it was taken back to our workshop were we set about restoring it to its former glory.

Our first action was to strip down the components to be able to undertake a professional restoration. After a full clean of the leather, We started to fill cracks and repair the cat scratches as part of our leather sofa repair service.
Once all the repairs were undertaken, the chair was prepped and refinished in the customers chosen colour. This is part of our leather restoration service. Once the pigment was applied, the chair was sealed with a water based sealant to protect the leather and give a slight sheen as requested by the customer. So as you can see many things are possible.
